Quilting mania…

i received my new tools for quilting.. one set.. trying to figure out function for each tools… the best part is, the cutting activities work much faster with the rotary cutter. i LIKEE… and if u can see, i’ve done half of House BOM.. my very first quilting projects..

tools functions

A loop turner is such a simple tool that works so well. It’s a very thin metal rod with a ring on one end and a hook and latch on the other. It’s great for any fabric cylinder that needs to be turned right side out. If you want really skinny spaghetti straps or tubes for fabric frogs or loop buttonholes, I think this works the best. And here’s a bonus: You can use the hook to dig out the cording that gets lost in the casing of your hoodies when they come out of the dryer!

A nice tutorial how to use the rotary cutter.. CLICK HERE

Clover slash cutter

  • Suitable for cutting straight or curved designs, the new Slash Cutter comes with two interchangeable guides; one for straight and one for curve slash cutting. Designed with comfort and safety features. A fast and easy way to make faux chenille. Just insert the guide and push. No cutting mat required. Just insert the guide and push.
  • Use a sewing machine to sew evenly spaced lines on several layers of fabrics in the direction of the fabric bias.
  • Insert the Slash Cutter guide into a channel between two stitching lines. (Place the guide on top of bottom fabric.)
  • Use one hand to hold down the fabrics andpush the Slash Cutter forward to make the cut. [If the initial cut is difficult, use scissors to make a 2 to 3cm (1″) cut first.
  • After all cuts have been completed, washfabrics in a washing machine to create the fluffy, tufted look.

Quilting ruler

  • Place the quilting ruler on top of the material. Trace around the ruler, and then cut the squares out with scissors, or use your rotary blade to cut without marking.
  • Lay a quilting ruler over any object to see if an item is perfectly square. Trace around the ruler with a pencil to make accurate markings for trimming the item to a perfect square.
  • Set a clear quilting ruler on top of any object to take an accurate measurement. Use this technique for measuring photo backings on scrapbook pages.
  • Measure items that are not perfectly flat. Place the ruler on the object, and flex the soft plastic to conform to the item.
  • Use several quilting rulers to measure longer lengths. Place the rulers end to end. They will not move because of their no slip stoppers on the bottom side.
  • Mark triangles with the tracing lines built into the ruler. Measure and cut 60 degree triangles with ease.
